Petticoat Rule
I have always loved collecting things and recycling and repainting furniture so it was an easy decision to start a Vintage shop with a mix of old and new items and I also needed to de-clutter my house.
I opened my shop at 127 Mayne Street which was my grandfather’s James (Jimmy) Cross’s boot makers shop in the 1920’s to the 1950’s when he sold it to the Red Cross, so I feel a strong connection with him at all times.
I have so much fun going on a usually 3 day buying trip to see what other people throw out, from Gulgong to the Coast, the car is always packed to the hilt when I arrive home with interesting and quirky items to be either painted, recycled or cleaned.
I sometimes love the items so much that I recycle that they stay in my house so I have defeated the purpose of de-cluttering at home.
Petticoat Rule also has various workshops throughout the year, a successful crazy patchwork; basket making and a chalk paint weekend were held in 2018. We have plans for more workshops this year, mosaics, card making, another basket making & crazy patchwork class.
